Grand Jury Indicts Youth Minister with Sex Crimes Stamford Advocate May 28, 2011 http://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Grand-jury-indicts-youth-minister-with-sex-crimes-1398512.php A former church youth minister has been indicted on 13 charges of sex crimes with juveniles, including two charges of aggravated rape of victims younger than 13 years old. On Thursday, a Rapides Parish grand jury found there was enough evidence to charge the 28-year-old Angelo Golatt, who was arrested March 29, where he worked. One of the victims was 9 or 10 years old at the time of an alleged offense in 2003, and was reportedly attacked again at age 13 in 2006, according to the grand jury charges released by the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office. Altogether, the grand jury charged Golatt with two counts of aggravated rape, one count of attempted aggravated rape, eight counts of sexual battery, one count of molestation of a juvenile and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. The District Attorney's Office has not released the gender of the alleged victims, and the rape and attempted rape charges released Thursday do not give a specific date of birth for the victims. On the eight sexual battery charges, the indictment lists four victims who were 9 to 14 years old at the time. Golatt was a youth leader at the now-closed Donahue Family Baptist Church in Pineville during much of the four- to five-year span. For at least one of the years -- 2006 -- Golatt was away from Louisiana. He worked with young people at a small-town Assembly of God church in Idaho. Golatt also worked at a facility for the mentally disabled while in Idaho, and was arrested there on two counts of sexual abuse/exploitation of a vulnerable adult. He later pleaded down to one count of battery and served 30 days in jail. |
