TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Gerald Robinson returns to court Friday to find out if he will get a new trial.

The former priest was convicted in 2006 for the strangulation and stabbing death of Sister Pahl in 1980.

A judge granted the hearing because of new evidence discovered in the case. It includes misplaced police reports on microfiche found after the initial trial as well as affidavits that prosecutors obtained on Robinson's three trial lawyers. The affidavits reveal information about what the lawyers knew about a particular document.

If a new trial is not granted, Robinson is eligible for an early prison release in the next five years.

WTOL 11 will be at today's hearing and will have much more later today.
