Pinal County Attorney's spokesman Kostas Kalaitzidis tells New Times that prosecutors have made the decision not to charge bishops Matthew Meyers and Troy Hansen for not reporting the abuse to authorities. Kalaitzidis also says -- as far as he knows -- there is no investigation targeting county Supervisor Brock for his apparent failure to report the abuse of the teenage victim by both his wife and adult daughter. According to court documents obtained by New Times, the relationship between Susan Brock and the boy was uncovered by the victim's girlfriend, who discovered sex-themed text messages between Brock and the victim on the boy's phone on October 8. The girl told her parents, who contacted Susan Brock, as well as her county supervisor husband, to tell them they knew of the abuse. Rather than call police, Fulton Brock called Meyers. On October 9 or 10, Susan Brock admitted having a sexual relationship with the boy to Meyers. Meyers never called police. When the boy's parents were told of the affair, rather than immediately call police, they contacted Hansen, their bishop in the LDS Church. As the father of the victim later told police, after meeting with Church leaders to discuss the abuse, he was "under the impression" that cops would be called. But they weren't -- as the boy's father was waiting for church leaders to alert authorities of the abuse of his teenage son, he got "tired of waiting" and called them himself on October 22. But that wasn't the first time the Mormon Church learned of suspicions that Brock was abusing the boy. In October 2009, about a year before Susan Brock's arrest, the Brocks and the victim's parents met with leaders in the Mormon Church. The topic of conversation: suspicions that Susan Brock was having sex with the teenage victim. If we had suspicions that a middle-aged woman was sleeping with our teenage son, our first call is to police -- not our church. Call us crazy. Susan Brock denied having sexual contact with the boy -- which was a lie -- and continued to abuse him for another year.
