MYFOXNY.COM - Good Friday--the holiest day in the Christian calendar--was marked with at least one procession or Way of the Cross in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Dozens of participants made their way from St. James Cathedral in Brooklyn on Friday morning and crossed the Brooklyn Bridge to City Hall Park in Manhattan with stops at Ground Zero and ending Friday afternoon at St. Peter's Church on Barclay Street.

At each 'station' during the traditional Catholic procession, participants remember the walk Jesus Christ made on his way to His crucifixion through meditation, prayer, reading from the Gospel or singing.

The Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge has been organized by the movement Communion and Liberation and the non-profit organization The Human Adventure Corporation for the past 16 years.

Christians believe Jesus Christ was crucified, died and resurrected.

Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Christ.
