PHILADELPHIA - Palm Sunday traditionally attracts members of the Christian faith to houses of worship to reflect on the importance of the Easter season, however many of the city's Catholics are also contemplating the impact of abuse allegations within their community and received a special message as they recently entered their parishes.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia distributed an insert for parishes to include with its news bulletin handout. The insert detailed the measures church leaders say have been taken in the wake of a grand jury report accusing priests of sexually abusing parishioners and resulted in the suspension of several priests.

It's a way for the archdiocese to be more transparent in its response to the abuse crisis in the Roman Catholic Church. The archdiocese spokesperson said the insert was optional, and the first one went out to parishes April 8. Some parishes began to include them on Palm Sunday.

Parishioners on Sunday said they are concerned the church may have known about abuse accusations against priests and sheltered them. Some said they didn't include enough information about the suspended priests, such as court hearing dates.
