A FORMER bishop who sexually abused his nephews said he would not quit the Catholic church as he claimed the two boys “didn’t mind”.

Father Roger Vangheluwe, 74, insisted he was not a paedophile, describing the abuse nearly 30 years ago as “a little piece of intimacy”.

The priest, who will avoid prosecution in Belgium, said on TV he abused a boy for 13 years from the age of five but added: “I’ll never forsake my priesthood or my vows.”

Fr Vangheluwe said the abuse only ended when a boy told him years later to stop.
