Father Roger Vangheluwe, 74, insisted he was not a paedophile, describing the abuse nearly 30 years ago as “a little piece of intimacy”. The priest, who will avoid prosecution in Belgium, said on TV he abused a boy for 13 years from the age of five but added: “I’ll never forsake my priesthood or my vows.” Fr Vangheluwe said the abuse only ended when a boy told him years later to stop.
