WILMINGTON — Attorneys for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington and alleged victims of priest sexual abuse say there's more work to do before the diocese can exit bankruptcy.

The diocese agreed in February to a $77 million settlement with nearly 150 alleged victims. Under the deal, the diocese and its parishes would be released from legal claims involving priest sex abuse, but would turn over documents detailing how it handled pedophile clerics.

But with little movement in court since the settlement was announced, the judge ordered a status update Tuesday. Attorneys for the diocese and the plaintiffs said the agreement remains in place, but there are still open issues. And an attorney representing the diocese's lay employees said the diocese has ignored repeated requests to meet and has not resolved their concerns.
