WINNEBAGO COUNTY - A Sept. 12 trial date was set Tuesday for a former priest convicted of sexual assault that the state wants committed as a sexual predator.
Norbert Maday, 72, was convicted in 1994 of sexually assaulting young boys in Oshkosh. His prison sentence ended in 2007, but he is still being confined because state prosecutors want to use a Wisconsin law designating a previous offender as a "sexual predator." Such as designation would require him to stay at a secure mental institution for treatment.
Maday has had at least two previous trial dates canceled.
