Mass to Be Held for Clerical Abuse Victims Today The Newstalk February 20, 2011 http://www.newstalk.ie/2011/news/5mass-to-be-held-for-clerical-abuse-victims-today43/ A special Mass is to be held in Dublin this afternoon for victims of clerical abuse. Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will lead the service at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral Church, along with Cardinal Sean O'Malley, who has been appointed by the Vatican to look into how clerical sex abuse cases were handled. It is called a Liturgy of Lament and Repentance and the senior clergymen will wash the feet of a group of people who suffered in various ways through abuse as an act of apology. Michael Kelly is the Deputy Editor of The Irish Catholic. He says today's liturgy is about asking forgiveness for the sins and crimes of abuse. |
