Senator Scott Brown revealed that he was sexually molested as a child by a camp counselor. The abuse occurred several times. The Republican Senator from Massachusetts made this revelation in an interview which will air Sunday on "60 Minutes". The counselor, according to Brown, threatened to kill him if he disclosed the abuse.

He also details how his stepfather was physically abusive, and that, at one time, he was tempted to buy a home where his stepfather had physically attacked him just so he could 'burn it down'.

While child sexual abuse and molestation has been reported greatly with regards to the Roman Catholic Church, there have been teachers and camp counselors who have sexually molested children. In my case, it was a school guidance counselor. Often times, sexual abuse victims wait years to report the crimes, and often wait until the statute of limitations has expired. Victims sometimes even take their own lives out of shame, horror or pain.

Pedophiles often target boys in a belief that boys will not report abuse as often as girls since girls are often trained to report when something 'bad' happens, but society often pressures boys to be 'tough' and 'strong' and to 'take it like a man'. This often leads to pedophiles abusing hundreds of victims who refuse to come forward until much, much later.
