(WWLP) - Gary Mercure, who served as a Roman Catholic priest in the 1980's, was sentenced Wednesday for raping two altar boys, one in in Great Barrington or Monterey and the other in New Ashford. On February 10, a Berkshire Superior Court jury found Mercure guilty of three counts of forcible rape of a child and one count of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14. Judge John Agostini sentenced Mercure to serve concurrent 20 to 25 year sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the rape charges. He was also given a concurrent 3 to 5 year state prison sentence on the charge of indecent assault and battery charge.
