Pastor’s Escapades in Bush with Schoolgirl Revealed By Lunga Masuku Times of Swaziland February 12, 2011 http://www.times.co.sz/News/25723.html A Church of the Nazarene from this area is divided following a sex scandal involving a pastor with a school girl. The sex scandal has allegedly divided the church such that some members of the church took it upon themselves to go and question the pastor about the rumours. Swazi News learnt that the 18-year-old girl is attending school in South Africa where she is doing Standard Nine. A source in the area said on a number of occasions, the school girl together with the pastor would be seen going to a nearby forest. The residents have alleged that the two love birds have been dating since 2008. Their relationship was kept under wraps after some teachers from the Nhlanguyavuka Nazarene Primary School complained about what was going on at the pastor’s house. "I would see one of the young girls going to the pastor’s house and whenever I asked the girl, she would tell me that the pastor was assisting her school with school work. I was not satisfied with the response and I then decided to ask the pastor himself. Even then, I could not get a satisfactory answer. It became evident to me that they were up to some mischief when I saw the pastor closing curtains and they later locked the door. After two hours, they then came out of the house and that convinced me that there was something going on," he said. "After that incident, I then resolved to tell one of the senior members of the church who promised to look into the issue. That female pastor then urged me not to panic because a few days later, senior members of the church together with the district superintendent were going to be visiting the local church." "On the first weekend of February, a high powered delegation from Pigg’s Peak came to the church and met the brethren. After the service, they decided to go with the pastor because he defied an instruction that was issued a few weeks ago that he should leave the church," said a senior church member. People who were part of the district superintendent visit included Maqhawe Gama, Jabulani Mamba, Shadrack Mncina and a certain Kunene. These are board of trustees members for the northern Hhohho district. The Swazi News has learnt that the pastor came to church a week ago and he could not preach and another pastor ministered on the day. "In one of his last sermons late last month, the pastor mentioned it in passing that whatever the brethren had heard was not true because he had overcome the issue of rumours doing rounds in the area," the source said. Ministering in SiSwati the pastor is said to have said, ‘lomoya lobesolo uhhusha ngendzaba yemntfwanesikolo mine sengiwuncobile,’ translated to mean ‘the rumours that have been doing rounds with effect to an alleged relationship between myself and a school girl I have overcome that and I am moving on with my work.’ She is taken in for tests MBABANE – Buhleni Police could not find any link implicating that the pastor had a recent sexual penetration with the school girl. Police PRO Superintendent Wendy Hleta said it was true that police were asked to assist with a case of that nature but their involvement was only to ascertain the truthfulness of the allegations of sexual abuse against the school girl. "Yes, it is true that police got involved in that case but after discovering that the girl was above the age limit that could warrant a charge for statutory rape, we then asked the board of trustees to handle the case on their own because there was no case that we could charge the pastor with," she said. "When we spoke to the girl, she told us that she had a boyfriend in South Africa that she had had sexual intercourse with. There was evidence of recent sexual penetration. Doctors from Mkhuzweni Health Centre then advised us that there could be no rape charges. She confirmed that the pastor was proposing love from her and she had not agreed to his request," said Hleta. |
