Judge Orders Trial for Alleged Priest Attacker Mercury News February 11, 2011 http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_17351428?nclick_check=1 SAN JOSE, Calif.—A California man has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly beating up a Catholic priest he claims molested him more than three decades ago. Prosecutors say William Lynch attacked 65-year-old Jerold Lindner last May at a retirement home for Jesuits in Los Gatos. Lynch says he and his little brother were molested by the priest during a weekend camping trip in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1975. Lindner has denied that he molested Lynch. Debbie Lukas, who leads a group of Lynch supporters, says Santa Clara County Judge David Cena ruled Thursday that the 43-year-old Lynch must be tried on one felony count of assault. Lynch has said he wants the case to go to trial so he can expose the alleged molestation and raise awareness of clergy abuse. |
