Defense Attorney in Case of Suspended Blessed Sacrament Priest Seeks to Suppress Evidence By Keith Ferguson Walpole Times January 27, 2011 http://www.wickedlocal.com/walpole/news/x1235862513/Defense-attorney-in-case-of-suspended-Blessed-Sacrament-priest-seeks-to-suppress-evidence The defense attorney of suspended Blessed Sacrament priest Emile Boutin filed a motion to suppress at Stoughton District Court last Wednesday and proceedings will continue to March 22. Boutin, known as Fr. Mike to his parishioners, pleaded not guilty in June to a charge of indecent assault and battery after he was accused of inappropriately grabbing a 21-year-old man in a sexual manner behind a Rte. 138 parking lot in Canton. Under his forthcoming motion, the defense attorney on March 22 will argue certain evidence in the case should be thrown out from use in a potential trial or judgment. The priest was released from custody following the arraignment in early summer on $500 bail and on the condition that he will stay away from the alleged victim and the Rte. 138 “Park and Ride.” The Archdiocese of Boston has banned Boutin from public ministry pending the outcome of this case. |
