NEW ORLEANS -- A former Catholic high school teacher, who faces allegations of sexual abuse in four states, has a lengthy track record of assault, a group said.

Bob Schwiderski, of the Minnesota's Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said he is familiar with Brother Raimond Rose, who taught at the Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie.

Schwiderski said at least 21 of Rose's former students from schools in California, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin have come forward accusing Rose of sexual molestation in claims that date as far back as 1966.

Schwiderski said that according to the accusers, Rose had a pattern of taking boys on trips and providing them with alcohol before sexually assaulting them.

Schwiderski said a letter was sent to the Christian Brothers religious order in 1995 that recounted assault, saying, "On the first trip, I felt someone fondling my privates. It was the first time I had been drunk. On the second trip, it became apparent it was in fact Brother Raimond who was touching me in the early morning hours as I lay trying to sleep."

Christian Brothers told WDSU that it had no knowledge of the accusations against Rose that date back to 1966.

Rose, now 77, has never been formally charged with the crimes.

Anyone who wants to file a complaint is asked contact Brother David Sinitere at 504-914-0569 or call the victims assistance coordinator of the Archdiocese of New Orleans at 504-861-6253.
