The daughter of a deaf man talks in March 2010 about the abuse he suffered at the hands of a priest when he was attending a school for deaf children

The Milwaukee Catholic Archdiocese announced Tuesday that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, because sexual abuse lawsuits from people who allege they were assaulted by clergy have left the archdiocese with financial claims exceeding the organization’s means.

Archbishop Jerome Listecki is scheduled to talk about the move at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. After that time, members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests will address the media.

SNAP has been critical of the archdiocese’s response to claims of abuse over the years. SNAP will hold a news conference at 3:00 outside of the offices of the archdiocese.
