Survivors Group to Discuss Archdiocese Bankruptcy Milwaukee Public Radio January 4, 2011 http://www.wuwm.com/programs/news/view_news.php?articleid=7509
The Milwaukee Catholic Archdiocese announced Tuesday that it is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, because sexual abuse lawsuits from people who allege they were assaulted by clergy have left the archdiocese with financial claims exceeding the organization’s means. Archbishop Jerome Listecki is scheduled to talk about the move at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. After that time, members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests will address the media. SNAP has been critical of the archdiocese’s response to claims of abuse over the years. SNAP will hold a news conference at 3:00 outside of the offices of the archdiocese. |
