Timothy Parker is escorted from court by Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher after a brief appearance Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. Parker, a Lutheran pastor, is charged with third-degree sex abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child.

WEST UNION, Iowa - A judge sentenced a Westgate pastor to 20 years in prison for sexual abusing a female relative.

The Rev. Timothy Parker appeared at the Fayette County Courthouse in West Union today. Earlier, Parker pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, which are class C felonies.

A judge granted the prosecution's requested sentence of 10 years in prison for each count of sexual abuse, according to Geoff Greenwood of the Iowa Office of the Attorney General, which prosecuted the case. The sentences will be served consecutively, Greenwood said.

According to criminal complaints, Parker, 40, had a female relative undress and touched her.

He served St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate.
