The hearing of a class-action lawsuit on behalf of victims of alleged sexual abuse at College Notre Dame in the 1970s and 1980s by brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross has been postponed to Dec. 30 to allow time for mediation and a possible out-of-court settlement. The delay was granted by Superior Court Justice Claude Auclair as two more plaintiffs were added to the list, along with that of the family of the late Rene Cornellier Jr. L.R.A. alleges he was sexually assaulted by one of the brothers at the Queen Mary Rd. school. F.L. was a student at College St. Cesaire, a school near Granby also run by the Congregation of Holy Cross, where he says he was sexually assaulted in the 1980s by a teaching brother. That school is now closed. F.L. is seeking $400,000 in damages, L.R.A. is asking for $75,000, while Cornellier’s family is seeking $235,000.
