Bishop Raymond Lahey is to appear in court again today on possession of child-pornography charges.

Lahey was charged in September 2009 with possessing and importing child pornography.

The 70-year-old bishop was arrested after border agents searched his laptop at the Ottawa airport as he arrived from Britain.

Police say they found hundreds of files and dozens of videos on Lahey’s laptop, many of them showing young males engaged in sex acts.

He is to stand trial next April in Ottawa.

Lahey resigned as head of the Roman Catholic diocese of Antigonish in Nova Scotia.

He has been staying with other priests in Ottawa since he was granted bail in October 2009.
