MINNEAPOLIS - There has been a surprise development in the case about a Twin Cities man who is being asked to pay more than $60,000 to the archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The man, who sued the church, came forward for the first time to talk about the demand for money. Then learned the archdiocese has put the demand on hold.

The Archdiocese admits priest Thomas Adamson abused a number of children over a number of years.

The abuse allegedly happened when Jim Keenan was in the eighth grade. Unlike the others, Keenan refused to settle his suit. He says it wasn't about the money. He wanted the church to reveal the names of 33 other priests he says are documented abusers but still hidden.

The archdiocese wouldn't go along. Then a judge dismissed Keenan's case because it exceeded the statute of limitations, which means it happened too long ago to be eligible go to court. The church turned around and sued Keenan for nearly $65,000 in court costs.

The archdiocese says it learned Tuesday morning the Keenan has filed bankruptcy. Keenan says the bankruptcy stemmed from his attempt to run a resort for kids with autism.

His attorney points out the archdiocese did not withdraw its motion for money; it's just put it on hold.
