Zambia: Abstain from Sexual Immorality, Shikapwasha Urges Clergy Lusaka Times November 28, 2010 http://www.lusakatimes.com/2010/11/28/abstain-sexual-immorality-shikapwasha-urges-clergy/
Government has challenged the church leadership in the country to ensure they maintain their integrity even in the face of temptation and refuse to succumb to sexual immorality. Chief Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha has observed that many church ministries have fallen due to church leaders who have failed to resist the lust of the fresh flesh and fallen prey to sexual immorality. Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said this in his graduation and ordination sermon for 12 church leaders who have graduated from the School of Christ of Leadership under the Jesus is Life Church in Lusaka today. Among the graduands are two pastors, two elders, five deacons, two deaconesses and one church worker. Lt Gen Shikapwasha who is Jesus is Life Church Senior Pastor stated that the way to heaven has been littered by men and women of God who have failed to deal with the lust of the fresh. He advised the 12 graduands to develop a personal good relationship with God if they were to avoid temptations. "As you enter the ministry, lust and temptations will come. But be strong, God is there for you. Pray, read his word and meditate upon it every day and the Almighty God will not leave you at the mercy of the wicked one", he said. He advised the men to let the women counsel the ladies and the ladies to let the men give counsel to their counterparts to avoid getting in a situation were temptation can occur. Lt Gen Shikapwasha also expressed concern at the increase in the number of young men and women who are joining the ministry for monetary gain. He appealed to people that are in the ministry to make money to be wary of the lust for money and wealth, saying God would surely deal decisively with persons that are using his name for their personal gain. Lt Gen Shikapwasha also urged church leaders not to abuse the power that God has given them but to use it to capture souls into the kingdom of God. He further urged church leaders to guard against pride saying pride was dangerous for the ministry as it only leads to destruction because God does not like people who are proud. |
