Priest Sentenced in Child Porn Case Centre Daily News November 17, 2010 http://www.centredaily.com/2010/11/17/2347889/pa-priest-sentenced-in-child-porn.html A Roman Catholic priest from eastern Pennsylvania has been sentenced to six months to six years in state prison for possession of child pornography. The Rev. Robert Timchak was charged in October 2009 with possessing child porn on his computers at St. Vincent Church in Pike County. He pleaded guilty in August to sexual abuse of children, criminal use of a communication facility and tampering with evidence. The (Wilkes-Barre) Times-Leader says Timchak told the court Wednesday that he believed childhood sex abuse and other events in his past had led to an addiction to online pornography. Defense attorney John Petorak said the sentence was fair but had hoped Timchak could serve his time in county prison. A spokesman for the Diocese of Scranton says Timchak has been on a leave of absence pending resolution of the case.
