SNAP Welcomes Defeat of Bishop Kicanas in USCCB Election Catholic Culture November 17, 2010 http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=8305 The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP) has praised the US bishops for breaking precedent and not electing Bishop Gerald Kicanas as president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Although in the past SNAP has been critical of Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, who won the election as president, the organization welcomed Bishop Kicanas's defeat: "we can hope that his shocking defeat will help deter future clergy sex crimes and coverups by the Catholic hierarchy." |
