Vagina Brushing Is Rape Peace Fm November 5, 2010 http://showbiz.peacefmonline.com/news/201011/101965.php
Nana Oye Lithur, a human rights advocate, has noted that the slightest penetration of the male sexual organ into that of a female, without the latter's consent, is the same as rape. Speaking at the launch of Maame Akua Foundation, a non-governmental organization that campaigns against the sexual abuse of women and children, Oye Lithur advised parents not to allow such cases to be settled at home but must rather be reported to the police, should their children fall prey to rape. She also said parents should not give their child-victims a bath before taking them to the police station but rather fold and tender their dresses, underpants and anything they wore at the time of being raped as evidence. Madam Akua, CEO of Maame Akua Foundation, commenting on 'The Vulnerable Women & Sexual Abuse', stated that the exploitation of women and girl children by some men of God, under the pretext of performing spiritual rituals for them, was getting out of control. She also touched on teachers who exploited children. She appealed to personnel of the Ghana Police Service to act on the spot and effect the arrest of such miscreants anytime information of such deeds got to them. Madam Akua cited an example of a minor raped by her pastor who happened to be her uncle. According to her, the pastor, when questioned on why he perpetrated such an act, said he was asked by the Holy Spirit to abuse the child. Amanorbea Dodoo, CEO of the National Organization of Foetal Alcoholism Syndrome, warned women against alcoholism, particularly where they claimed to drink moderately. She gave examples of women who were lately found at funerals and other outdoor events drinking 'akpeteshie' from Voltic Mineral Bottle containers, pretending the content was drinking water. Ms Dodoo also emphasized "Christians, particularly Pentecostals, claim not to drink alcohol in public but these people turn out to be drunk later. How did this people get drunk if they were not drunks? They should not deceive themselves. Noting that alcoholism easily subjected women to rape, she urged mothers to start educating their kids on sexual matters so their children should not fall for sexual baits in future. "A lot of women at the psychiatric hospitals got there through sexual abuses from their pastors and other women. She therefore advised that before any pastor prayed for people in their sanctuaries, efforts should be made to ensure someone else was around in order not attract the unexpected. |
