Republican Congressional candidate Ed Martin is hitting back at a website which claims he hid pedophile priests while he was a top aide of former St. Louis Archdiocese Archbishop Justin Rigali.
Martin says www.therealedmartin.com is just a smear campaign looking to hurt him and Catholics.
Martin also says the head of the website, Michael Corwin, is really just a Democratic operative looking to hurt him.
Corwin did used to work for Martin's opponent, Democrat Russ Carnahan, but says he quit the campaign when Carnahan wouldn't go after Martin on fears of hurting the Catholic vote.
