| Priest Facing Sex Abuse Charges Claims He's Too Sick for Court Waterbury Republican-American October 9, 2010 http://www.rep-am.com/news/local/doc4cb0790cb5497452301359.txt SEYMOUR -- A local priest accused of sexually abusing two men has claimed to have an undisclosed medical condition that has made him unavailable to attend his deposition in New Haven Superior Court, according to court documents. The Rev. Stephen Bzdyra, a local Roman Catholic priest, was scheduled to appear for his deposition earlier this week. Attorney Joel Faxon, of New Haven, who represents the two men, has filed a motion to compel Bzdyra to appear for his deposition, and to produce evidence of his illness, he said. Hugh F. Keefe Jr., who is representing Bzdyra, had recently filed a motion in court to seek a court order to prohibit Faxon from releasing any videotapes or transcripts of his client's deposition to the public, and specifically, the news media. |
