Wilfred Dennis, 75, appeared in the District Court today. He pleaded not guilty to four counts of indecent assault and four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. Opening the trial, prosecutor Andrew Rodriquez said the offences occurred in the mid 1970s, when the victims were aged between 13 and 16. He said both boys - now grown men - would testify Dennis repeatedly abused them in his home, church office and car while working as a priest in the northern suburbs. The trial, before Judge Paul Rice and in the absence of a jury, is continuing. Dennis was first jailed for sex offences 40 years ago, serving a six-month term for abusing two altar boys. He is currently serving a 20-month term of imprisonment, imposed in April for crimes against another altar boy.
