5th Woman Accuses Former Erie Episcopal Bishop By Associated Press, carried in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette July 13, 2010 http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10194/1072482-100.stm ERIE, Pa. -- A fifth woman has come forward to say that a former Erie Episcopal bishop abused her. The woman sent an e-mail to the diocese Monday, a day after the current bishop disclosed to church members that Bishop Donald Davis had sexually abused four girls. Bishop Davis was bishop in the diocese from 1974 until 1991. He died in 2007. According to the Erie Times-News, the latest accuser said in an e-mail that the bishop stuck his tongue in her mouth at a church camp and later asked her to go to his cabin. The girl, now grown, did not go to his cabin and instead hid in some bushes. The woman wished to remain anonymous. She told the newspaper she was glad that the diocese's current bishop, Sean Rowe, admitted the abuse by Bishop Davis. |
