Campbell will come forward, get help, call police, and start recovering. Campbell's plea absolves no one of the basic civic and moral duty to speak up about sexual misconduct, by him or other clerics. (SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world's oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We've been around for 22 years and have more than 9,000 members. Despite the word "priest" in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. (AP) - A longtime Wichita priest who was caught up in a sex sting operation last year has pleaded no contest to public nudity. The Rev. Leslie Campbell also pleaded no contest Thursday afternoon to remaining in a park after hours. KAKE reports that in exchange for Campbell's plea, a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior was dropped. Campbell was arrested in August 2009 and placed on leave by the Wichita Diocese the next day. He had been a priest at St. Jude's for more than 10 years. Information from: KAKE-TV |
