Kentucky State Police say 42-year-old Carlos Mendez-Almendra of Columbia has been indicted on charges in Taylor and Adair counties. A police statement released Monday says Mendez-Almendra was indicted in Taylor County on charges of sex abuse and intimidating a witness and in Adair County on charges of rape and sexual misconduct. Court records did not list an attorney for him. Police say Mendez-Almendra was the preacher at a Spanish-speaking church, Apostoles Prophetas, in Adair County that has been closed. The investigation is continuing.
