QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - Law enforcement authorities say they won't investigate a Quincy priest accused of sexually abusing children about 50 years ago because the criminal statute of limitations has expired.

A spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney William Keating tells The Patriot Ledger that state police investigators have determined that the time limit to prosecute the Rev. Dominic Menna was six years.

The spokesman says the Boston Archdiocese notified prosecutors in a letter received May 10 that more than one person had claimed to have been abused by Menna.

Menna has been placed on administrative leave, banned from performing the duties of a priest, or from living at St. Mary's Church, pending the archdiocese's investigation.

Attempts to reach Menna have been unsuccessful.
