	Obama Administration Asks Court to Bar Lawsuit against Vatican Catholic Culture May 24, 2010 http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=6422 The Obama administration has weighed in strongly against efforts by abuse victims to bring suit against the Vatican. In a brief filed with the US Supreme Court, the Justice Department asked for a reversal of a federal district court ruling that allowed the Vatican to be listed as a defendant in an Oregon case. The brief does not directly address the questions that have been raised in a more recent case in Kentucky, in which plaintiffs argue that American bishops are in effect employees of the Holy See. In the Oregon case the Solicitor General argues that the plaintiffs have failed to match the standards required for bringing suit in US courts against another sovereign power.
