	Man Files Complaint Here against Casey By Bill Jones Greeneville Sun May 14, 2010 http://www.greenevillesun.com/story/309517 Sex Abuse Incidents Occurred At Cabin From '76 To '80, Complaint Alleges BY BILL JONES STAFF WRITER An Indiana man has filed a complaint with the Greene County Sheriff's Department against former Catholic priest William "Bill" Casey alleging that he was sexually molested at the priest's cabin here between 1976 and 1980 when he was a youth. The complaint was filed by Anthony Warren Tucker, 44, of Jeffersonville, Ind., on Wednesday, but was not made public until this morning. The complaint says that Tucker told Det. Sgt. James Ellison that he was molested by Father William Casey at Casey's Shake Rag Road cabin between 1976 and 1980. No charges had been filed against Casey as a result of the complaint as of this morning. Tucker had publicly announced earlier this year that he was sexually molested by Casey when the former Catholic priest was pastor of St. Dominic Parish in Kingsport some 30 years ago. Tucker told officials of the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville on Wednesday, April 14, that Casey had sexually abused him during a five-year period from when Tucker was 10 to when he was almost 15. The years were from about 1975 to about 1981, Tucker has said. Tucker had not filed a formal complaint with Greene County authorities until this week. In April, Bishop Richard Stika, of the Diocese of Knoxville, suspended Casey from priestly duties and launched an internal investigation. On the morning of Thursday, April 15, the bishop told the news media and the public in a statement that Casey had acknowledged to him that the allegations had credibility and that there may be other victims. Bishop Stika said that Casey told him that the abuse occurred early in his ministry, that he had realized it was wrong and stopped, and that he is ashamed of what he did. The bishop announced in April that, in accordance with diocesan policy in such situations, he had permanently removed Casey from ministry as a Catholic priest and notified law enforcement authorities in the counties where the abuse is alleged to have occurred, According to Tucker, some 50 instances of molestation involving him occurred either in Kingsport or at a rural cabin in Greene County. There were also two instances in McDowell County, N.C., Tucker has said. Casey has been charged with having committed a "crime against nature" by McDowell County, N.C., authorities. He waived a probable cause hearing on that charge on Wednesday in Marion, N.C. Casey is next scheduled to appear in McDowell County District Court on June 30, according to McDowell County Superior Court Clerk Don Ramsey. Capt. Vic Hollifield, of the McDowell County, N.C., Sheriff's Department said Thursday that should a plea agreement be reached in Casey's case, he could enter a guilty plea on June 30 in McDowell County District Court (the equivalent of General Sessions Court here). Hollifield said that in North Carolina, defendants can plead guilty to certain felonies in District Court. However, Superior Court Clerk Ramsey said Casey could be indicted by a McDowell County grand jury prior to June 30. Should that happen, he said, the case would be transferred to McDowell County Superior Court, which is the equivalent of Criminal Court here.
