	Bishop Slattery Replaces Former Vatican Prefect As Celebrant for Dc Traditional Liturgy By Michael Sneed Chicago Sun-Times April 23, 2010 http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=6119 Bishop Edward Slattery has replaced Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, the former prefect of the Congregation for Clergy, as the celebrant of an April 24 Mass in the extraordinary form at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. The Mass will be the first solemn pontifical high Mass at the shrine in 45 years. Cardinal Castrillon backed away from plans to preside at the Mass after sex-abuse victims protested his scheduled appearance by the Colombian prelate. The protests followed the publication of a 2001 letter in which Cardinal Castrillon praised a French bishop for withholding evidence of a priest's sexual abuse.
