WHAT Holding signs and childhood photos, after a sidewalk news conference, clergy sex abuse victims and supporters will: -- Hand out fliers door-to-door in a neighborhood where a defrocked predator priest from New York now quietly lives among unsuspecting families, -- Urge anyone who saw, suspected or suffered clergy sex crimes to come forward, call police, protect kids and start healing, and -- Demand that Pope Benedict immediately set up a global on-line registry of proven, admitted & credibly accused child molesting clerics (& a separate one for those who have been sent or moved from one nation to another. WHEN: Thursday, April 15th at 1PM WHERE: On sidewalk in front of Waples Mobile Home Park (Intersection of Stevenson Rd &Lee Hwy/Rt. 29) in Fairfax VA WHO A victim who was molested as a child by a priest who is the Virginia director for a Chicago-based support group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAPnetwork.org), her adult son, and two leaders in Voice of the Faithful , a national Catholic organization that supports clergy sex abuse victims (VOTF.org) VISUALS The group will have a photo of the accused predator and child hood pictures of themselves. WHY Recently, SNAP learned that a defrocked, credibly accused predator priest, Eugene Vollmer from New York is apparently living in Fairfax, Virginia. SNAP wants Vollmer's neighbors to be warned about him, because they fear he may still be dangerous. The group will publicly urge Virginia and DC Catholic officials to use their websites, bulletins, diocesan newspapers and pulpit announcements to alert families about Vollmer's presence here. Vollmer's priestly faculties were suspended by Bishop William Murphy of the Diocese of Rockville Centre in March 2002 after "credible" accusations of sex abuse surfaced against him, according to t media reports and Rockville Centre spokesman Sean Dolan. Some of Vollmer's victims have identified him as "Priest D" in a 2003 Suffolk County, NY grand jury report on sex abuse and cover up on Long Island. According to BishopAccountability.org, Vollmer worked at the following New York area parishes: St. Joseph's in Ronkonkoma (deacon 1977), Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lindenhurst (1978), St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead (1978-85), Our Lady of Lourdes in West Islip (1985-88), Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park (1988-97), St. Peter of Alcantara in Port Washington (1997-98) and St. James in Seaford (1998-2002).
