ROMA - Ieri, parlando dal Cile, il segretario di Stato vaticano Tarcisio Bertone non ha solo annunciato nuovi provvedimenti anti-abusi dei sacerdoti. Ha anche pronunciato una frase che ha fatto insorgere le comunita gay, sia quelle locali che quelle italiane. Dopo aver detto che non c'e alcun collegamento tra la pedofilia e il celibato a cui sono sottoposti i preti, ha sostenuto che questo tipo di patologie ha invece un legame con l'omosessualita. Ed e bufera. Nello stesso giorno in cui, dalla Germania, arriva la notizia di scritte oscene trovate sulla casa natale di Benedetto XVI, in Baviera.
Le parole di Bertone. "Molti sociologi, molti psichiatri hanno dimostrato che non c'e relazione tra celibato e pedofilia - ha dichiarato il segretario di Stato - e invece molti altri hanno dimostrato, me lo hanno detto recentemente, che c'e una relazione tra omosessualita e pedofilia. Si tratta di una patologia che interessa tutte le categorie sociali, e preti in minor grado in termini percentuali". Il segretario di Stato di Benedetto XVI ha comunque ammesso che "il comportamento dei preti in questo caso, il comportamento negativo, e molto grave, e scandaloso". Bertone, che ha visitato le zone piu colpite dal terremoto dello scorso 27 febbraio in Cile, ha anche insistito nel sostenere che la Chiesa non ha mai tentato di nascondere i casi di abusi o di frenare le indagini; e ha ricordato che papa Benedetto XVI ha incontrato alcune vittime, ha chiesto perdono "in ripetute occasioni" ed e disposto a continuare a farlo.
Le reazioni. Il Movimento cileno per le minoranze sessuali (Movikh) ha subito criticato le parole sull'omosessualita: "Bertone mente in modo palese ed inumano quando sostiene che ci sono studi che dimostrato l'esistenza di relazioni tra l'omosessualita e la pedofilia". Qui in Italia, il leader storico di Arcigay Aurelio Mancuso ha detto che "come sempre i cardinali stravolgono la realta". ranco Grillini, esponente dell'Idv e leader di Gaynet, ha definito "gravissime" le affermazioni del numero due della Santa Sede. La deputata Pd Paola Concia ha espresso "indignazione: e davvero sconfortante che ancora oggi eminenti rappresentanti della Chiesa cattolica si lascino andare ad analisi cosi grossolane". Ancora piu dura Gaylib, l'associazione omosex di centrodestra: "Il Vaticano dovrebbe chiedere perdono al mondo e alla storia presso l'assemblea generale dell'Onu". Infine i radicali, secondo cui il cardinale e stato "volgare e maldestro".
Il Papa e le vittime. Oggi il Vaticano fa sapere che Benedetto XVI e disposto ad incontrare le vittime degli abusi sessuali da parte di religiosi, ma "in un clima di raccoglimento e riflessione, non sotto una pressione di carattere mediatico". Lo ha detto il direttore della sala stampa vaticana, padre Federico Lombardi, illustrando il programma del viaggio del Papa a Malta, sabato e domenica prossimi.
Le scritte oscene. Dalla Germania arriva la notizia che scritte oscene a sfondo sessuale "cosi offensive da non poter essere riportate" sono state trovate sui muri della casa natale di papa Benedetto XVI, nella cittadina bavarese di Marktl am Inn. Le scritte sono state fatte la notte scorsa con una bomboletta spray e sono state scoperte, secondo la polizia, da un passante alle sei di stamane. L'atto di vandalismo precede di soli tre giorni l'ottantatreesimo compleanno del Pontefice.

ROME - Speaking from Chile, the Vatican Secretary of State Tarciscio Bertone yesterday announced new anti-abuse provisions for priests. He also pronounced a phrase that provoked the reaction of the gay communities, both local and Italian. After having said there was no link between pedophilia and priest celibacy, he argued that the pathology had instead a tie with homosexuality. That started a storm. This came on the same day in which from Germany came news about obscene writings found on the walls of the house where Benedict SVI was born.
Bertone's words. "Many sociologists, many psychiatrists have proven there is no relationship between celibacy and pedophilia," declared the Secretary of State, "and instead many more have found out, as they recently told me, there is a relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia. That pathology affects all social categoies, the priests being at a lower percentage." Benedict XVI's Secretuary of State has, however, conceded that "the behavior of the priests in such a case, their negative behavior, is very grave, is very scandalous." Monsignor Bertone, who has visited the places hit by the earthquake in Chile on February 27, also insisted in maintaining that the Church never tried to hide the cases of sexual abuse or to impede the investigations. He reminded that Pope Benedict XVI met some of the victims, asked for pardon on repeated occasions and said he is willing to do that.
The reactions. The Chilean movements for sexual minorities (Movikh) criticized immediately the word about homosexuality. Bertone lies in an inhuman and evident way when he affirms there are studies which show the tie between homosexuality and pedophilia, the organization said. Here in Italy, the leader of Arcigay, Aurelio Mancuso, said there are always Cardinals who subvert reality. Franco Grillini, a member of the IDV party and leader of Gaynet, said the comments were "very offensive." Ms. Paolo Concia, member of the House belonging to the Democratic Party, expressed her indignation. "It's really discouraging that even today high representatives of the Catholic Church fall into such a gross analysis." Even harsher, Gaylib, the association of homosexuals which supports the political center-right coalition said, "The Vatican ought to ask for pardon to the world and to history during a meeting of the UN Assembly." Finally, the criticism of the Radical Party was that the Cardinal was "vulgar and clumsy."
The Pope and the victims. Today, the Vatican has said Benedict XVI is willing to meet the victims of sexual abuses by the clergy but "in a climate of reflection and not under the pressure coming from the media." This was stated by the director of the Vatican Press, Father Federico Lombardi, when describing the program of the Pope's visit to Malta on Saturday and Sunday.
The obscene writings. From Germany comes the news that obscene writings with sexual background "so much offensive as not to be reported" have been found on the walls of the house in which Benedict XVI was born in the Bavarian city of Marktl am Inn. Those writings were made last night using a spray can, according to the police. The writing was found by a passerby at 6 a.m. The vandalism act preceded only three days of the 83rd birthday of the Pontiff.
