Strike Force Georgiana was established in March 2008 by detectives from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command, with the assistance of officers from the Newcastle Local Area Command. About 9am today, a 48-year-old man attended Raymond Terrace Police Station where he was arrested by Lake Macquarie detectives. The man was charged with commit act of indecency to a person under 16 years and indecent assault. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 5 May. Police will allege the charges relate to the alleged assault of a child at a former convent in Maitland in the 1980’s. The 48-year-old man is also facing 20 other charges for alleged child sex related/ indecent abuse offences and will appear in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 16 June.
