Experience: Ordained as a priest of the Opus Dei Prelature in 1978 in Spain. Appointed auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Denver in 2001. Appointed archbishop of the Diocese of San Antonio in 2005. Named coadjutor to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and successor to Cardinal Roger Mahony on Tuesday. Current chair-elect of the Committee on Migrants and Refugee Services for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
