Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo archbishop Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez yesterday said the Catholic church must expel pedophile priests, whose scandals he called “shameful” and condemned the criticism against Pope Benedict XVI.
The country’s only Cardinal also disagrees with allowing the priests who abuse minors to continue in clergy work. “I’m in total agreement that those people are totally separated from the clergy and do something else.”
Lopez, heading the Catholic Mass of the Resurrection of Jesus, said there’s a conspiracy against the Catholic Church, mainly in Europe, because it leads the voices against the abuses and the uncontrolled economic injustices in the world.
