Pope May Seek Brady's Resignation: Report

IRELAND -- It is being reported that the Pope may force the head of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Cardinal Sean Brady, to resign.

Pope Benedict the Sixteenth is considering asking the Cardinal to step down over his role in a Catholic Church tribunal on abuse allegations by a teenage boy against Fr Brendan Smyth, according to today's Irish Independent .

The victim was sworn to secrecy after the proceedings.

Cardinal Brady has apologised for his involvement, but says he will not step down unless asked to do so by the Pope.
