IRELAND -- The Bishop of Derry has apologised to a group of victims for the physical and sexual abuse suffered in Catholic Church-run institutions in the city.
Dr Seamus Hegarty issued the apology during a meeting with five people who were abused as children in care homes run by the Sisters of Nazareth.

He said: " For anyone to experience what they experienced is a cause of deep sorrow and shame.
"I am truly sorry that anyone should suffer such abuse in any institution operating where the spirit of Jesus Christ should have prevailed."
