The man was arrested in Chile last August, the Saint-Viateur order said in a statement. He is also the subject of an investigation by Spanish authorities into suspected abuse of children while a teacher at Saint-Viateur schools in Spain, the statement said. Saint-Viateur is "dismayed" by the news but said no case had yet been filed against the man. Spanish newspaper El Pais said the 53-year-old, who taught physical education, religion and languages at three Saint-Viatur schools, is suspected of the sexual abuse of 15 children aged between 12 and 14. The Roman Catholic Saint-Viateur order was founded in France in 1831 and now has schools in several countries.
