RALEIGH (NC) -- A Raleigh church is helping parents protect their children from sexual abuse after its own brush with a sexual predator.

Providence Baptist Church brought in a psychologist to give parents warning signs to look for and common myths about sexual predators.

Just a few years ago, youth volunteer Brian Goodrich, Jr. was convicted of molesting a boy who attended the church.

Psychologist Kevin Baldwin says parents should keep an eye on people around their children.

"If somebody is trying to isolate your child from your family, if someone wants to spend an inordinate amount of time with one of your children, if you've got more than one, or if someone actually wants to spend more child with your child than you do, you're the parent after all, that is a potential danger sign," explained Dr. Baldwin, Highland Institute.

Dr. Baldwin urges parents to have a close relationship with their children so they feel comfortable talking about anything.
