	Mingo Teacher Charged with Abuse Charleston Daily Mail January 25, 2010 http://www.dailymail.com/policebrfs/201001250702 A Mingo County teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a family member. Mingo Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Smith said Monday that Johnny Ray Dempsey, 36, of Delbarton was taken into custody Friday afternoon and charged with sexual abuse. Smith said Dempsey was a teacher at Tug Valley High School and Kermit Area School in Mingo County. Deputies said Monday that Child Protective Services received a complaint regarding Dempsey Wednesday and contacted the sheriff's department later that day to investigate. Dempsey is accused of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl in June 2009, according to a complaint filed in Mingo Magistrate Court. Smith said the victim recently reported the incident and that deputies spoke with Dempsey soon after receiving the complaint. The sergeant said Dempsey came to the sheriff's office Friday and confessed. Dempsey is being held at Southwestern Regional Jail. His bond was set at $100,000.
