Son of Catholic Priest Who Spoke out about Experience Dies at 22 KWMU November 30, 2009 http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/kwmu/news.newsmain/article/1/0/1583098/St..Louis.Public.Radio.News/ Son.of.Catholic.priest.who.spoke.out.about.experience.dies.at.22 ST. LOUIS (St. Louis Public Radio) - A suburban St. Louis man whose father was a Roman Catholic priest has died of brain cancer at age 22, according to today's New York Times. After he was diagnosed with the terminal illness, Nathan Halbach of O'Fallon, Mo. decided to speak out about growing up knowing his father was a priest. The Rev. Henry Willenborg was suspended from his position as a parish priest in Wisconsin after a Times article published last month revealed his liaisons with women. The Franciscan order sent Willenborg to a treatment center and returned him to ministry, and gave Halbach's mother child support as part of a confidentiality agreement. But she and Halbach spoke out after the Franciscans declined to reimburse them for some cancer treatment expenses. The Franciscans have said they covered more than the law required them to, and will pay for Halbach's funeral . |
