Vatican Attacks New Moon Movie but Not the Bible By Bob Johnson Examiner November 25, 2009 http://www.examiner.com/x-23325-Tampa-Deism-Examiner~y2009m11d25-Vatican-attacks-New-Moon-movie-but-not-the-Bible The Vatican's Pontifical Council for Culture blasted the new vampire movie, New Moon, which is aimed at teens and young adults. The Pontifical Council for Culture claims the movie is a "moral vacuum with a deviant message".
Based on the record of the Catholic Church protecting pedophile priests from justice, they're still protecting former Boston Cardinal Bernard Law by keeping him in the Vatican, while innocent children have their lives ruined at the hands of these clergymen, it doesn't seem the Catholic Church has the right to condemn the morals of anyone or anything. When you examine much of the material in the Bible, which the Catholic Church and Christianity say they're based on, it becomes evident there are examples of much lower morals than what is in New Moon. For example there is incest. One Biblical case of incest is found at Genesis 19:31-38 which says in part, "Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father." Father Abraham, the patriarch of all three of the Abrahamic "revealed" religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, married his half-sister and then, objectively speaking, pimped her. Genesis 12:10-16 has Abram, aka Abraham, telling his 70 year old wife Sarai, aka Sarah, that she is very beautiful and that the Egyptians will want her. Therefore, he doesn't want her to tell the Egyptians that they are married, only that Abram is her brother. He did this out of fear the Egyptians would be so smitten with his 70 year old wife's beauty that they would kill him to have her. She did as he said and ended up being taken in by Pharaoh himself, as the story goes. Because of Sarai pleasing Pharaoh, Pharaoh gave great wealth to Abram. This, in essence, is pimping and prostitution. Is this a family value we want to teach our children? Should the Vatican and all Christian, Jewish and Islamic religious organizations condemn this account of Biblical prostitution and pimping as they condemn the movie, New Moon? If a teenager or young adult was arrested for picking up babies and smashing them against stones and the police found this quote in a book the teen owned, "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones", the Vatican and clergy would demand the censorship of such disgusting and violence promoting writings. The only problem for the clergy and Vatican would be that this repulsive quote is found in their "word of God", the Bible! It's at Psalm 137:9. This quote makes clear what the Deist and American Founding Father Thomas Paine meant when he wrote in The Age of Reason, "Is it because ye are sunk in the cruelty of superstition, or feel no interest in the honor of your Creator, that ye listen to the horrid tales of the Bible, or hear them with callous indifference?" Is it time for humanity to move forward and leave behind the ancient superstitions of the past? If we don't, we'll end up like the Jews at the Wailing Wall Albert Einstein was watching when he said about them, "Where dull-witted clansmen of our tribe were praying aloud, their faces turned to the wall, their bodies swaying to and fro. A pathetic sight of men with a past but without a future." |
