	Derry Priest Quits for Relationship A Priest in Londonderry Has Stepped down after Telling His Congregation He Is in a Relationship with a Woman UTV November 16, 2009 http://u.tv/News/Priest-quits-for-relationship-/eef3393f-1706-4585-884a-3d8ee66b407d Father Sean McKenna who has been a member of the clergy for 24 years announced his resignation during Mass at Holy Family Church in Ballymagroarty. He told those attending Holy Family Church that he faced an agonising decision, having to choose between his priesthood and his relationship. At the weekend Fr Sean McKenna said his decision was difficult and painful and came after a long period of reflection. Because of the Catholic Church's rules on celibacy, he said his relationship with the woman did not allow him to continue in the priesthood. At St. Eugene's Cathedral, centre of the Catholic Diocese of Derry, there was shock at the announcement. It is the second time in a matter of months that a priest at Holy Family Church has resigned after becoming involved in a relationship with a woman.
