Roman Catholic clergyman Richard James Robinson, 72, pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of indecent assault on a male. He also denied three charged of indecency with a child, five serious sexual offences and two charges of attempting to commit a serious sexual offence. The charges span a period of between 1959 and 1983 and involve four alleged victims. The offences are alleged to have taken place in Walsall, Birmingham, Coventry and Wales. Judge Elizabeth Fisher adjourned the case for trial, which is likely to take three weeks, and remanded Robinson in custody.
