Peyser Backs NY Archbishop for Slamming Dowd NewMax November 5, 2009 http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/peyser_dowd_dolan_times/2009/11/05/282310.html On Thursday, star New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser applauded "gutsy" New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan for his online attack against The New York Times and columnist Maureen Dowd's Catholic-bashing and "anti-religious fervor." Dolan wrote an article for the Archdiocese of New York's Web site after Dowd's "scurrilous" Oct. 25 column criticized the Vatican for "two inquisitions" into nuns who spurn "old-fashioned habits and convents," and claimed that nuns are still "second-class citizens" in the church. In an article headlined "Amen to the gutsy Dolan - now fight back vs. the other lib bigots," Peyser wrote: "How I wish we had more Dolans out there." But Peyser said Dolan might have gone further and addressed bigotry beyond the Catholic Church, noting that in Hollywood and even in the local classroom, "libels are produced on an almost daily basis" against Jews, women, conservatives and white males. She warned that anti-male bigotry "has yielded some alarming results," noting the high rates of males flunking or dropping out of school. Read Andrea's Peyser's full column — Click Here Now |
