Pastor Accused of Molesting Girls Forgiven by Victims KXXV November 2, 2009 http://www.kxxv.com/Global/story.asp?S=11427114 WACO - The Former Pastor of First Baptist Church in Bellmead will spend the next 50 years behind bars after pleading guilty to four counts of aggravated sexual assault Monday in 19th District Court. William Frank Brown cried as his victims took the stand and told the court about their horrifying ordeal; both girls said they forgave Brown for what he did to them. "I love him, but he needs help," said one of the girls. "A new life is ahead of us and I forgive him." The judge ordered Brown to serve 50 years on each count of aggravated sexual assault. The sentences will be served at the same time, meaning Brown will spend a total of 50 years behind bars. He will become eligible for parole after serving 25 years behind bars. Lead prosecutor Beth Toben said the plea deal was best for the community and for the two victims and their family.
"The fact that they had such a close relationship with him and that he had been a spiritual guider for him, it was going to be really hard for them to go through a trial," Toben said. "This allows it to get over with sooner and they don't have to wait." Brown was indicted for the incidents which began about four years ago in Illinois, when he began assaulting the younger of the two girls. When he moved to Texas, Police said Brown assaulted the older victim, who is about to turn 14. Police said the sexual assaults took place hundreds of time, some of which were in Robinson, Harris Creek and in Waco. Brown, a former pastor of First Baptist Church in Bellmead, resigned just before the investigation became public. |
